Its disgraceful how no city in India is good enough to cope with a rare torrential rain. The rain has placed everyone in house arrest; schools are closed, shops are closed, roads are submerged, and little islets the only refuge for unfortunate pedestrians; totally exposing the embarrassing lapses in the quality of infrastructure that this country has. And is the DMK through with gifting cheap television sets..?.. because I’d say its time build some roads around here. Atleast lets have the city’s regular functions go on. I can’t believe the people of this blessed place voted for televisions and computers instead of power, infrastructure, and getting bloody rid of the LTTE. I don’t think the multinational companies would be interested in setting up high precision and quality manufacturing units in a friggin swamp, no matter how cheap the labor is.Meanwhile, I think Saurav Ganguly is a real asshole. I mean what the fuck is that Pepsi advertisement! He seems to be routing for a sympathy spot in a team which is bad enough. I guess the big question is — Does Indra Nooyi know about this?
My exams are on. Just finished taking 3 big practical examinations. Now I sit tight and wait for those awesome theory papers. I can’t say enough about how interesting this semester has been. Some papers have captivated me a great deal.
I read a most fascinating article in The Hindu's Sunday Magazine section on the dominance of West Indies in cricket from the year 1948 to the 1980s. Do check it out here.
Its titled Calypso Magic, written by Mukul Kesavan. Its so motivating for any team to read such a wonderful peice of informative journalism. If the current West Indies team just happens to grab the fictitious(unfortunately so!) Central American Issue of The Hindu, the Indian team are going to have a pretty scary time there. They had bowlers in the 60s that could make the media-pet Dhoni look like a fool. And batsmen to decimate any fast bowling attack. So as always, India fans can sit and pray. Heh!
The news clearly showed that the man, Pramod Mahajan was critically wounded in the most confounded parts of his body. A few frames later, they have already killed him.
Our wonderful media is so obsessed with the damn TRP that the news content has become redundant. They will take one little story and butcher it till the carcass begs for mercy.
The way NDTV and CNN-IBN (not to mention the others) showed his past life and what a "great" man he was and what a wonderful father he had been to his brothers and children alike. It was apparently clear in their little heads that the man is dead. And every day, he is just proving them wrong. It is the lack of this pathetic quality that makes BBC the best news channel around. Our chaps are just too pro-entertainment value; news content, variety is secondary.
This kind of poor quality results in a biased media that the masses cannot relate to. Its
good enough having to read the morning papers for his medical condition, rather than watch a full blown biography. Blast!!
