Downloaded the theme song from ‘Superman’ a few hours ago. I can’t believe I hadn’t done this earlier. Composed by John Williams, it can, without doubt be regarded as the best theme ever.
Project review deadlines are approaching. That should explain temporary abstinence eh! I am trying to do some networking through Google-Groups to find out what type of heat-exchanger is best suited for my project. It involves effecting a heat-transfer from a gas to water. The gas refers to diesel exhaust comprising largely of CO, CO2, NOx etc. and SO2, O2 in minute quantities. A type that can be fabricated easily is the shell-tube type exchanger and this is also effective provided the gas flows in the tubes enveloped with a water jacket.
The problem now is that the Copper tubes will be clogged with soot very soon and cleaning will be a problem. The thought of having water flow in the tubes was an alternative, but this reduces the overall heat transfer coefficient drastically even with a multi-pass system!
Hence the toiling. We are now looking at a cross-flow tubular fin type design that could well be a tad hard to fabricate especially by us amateur engineers, heh!
Will post a slightly lighter one tomorrow week.
