When the kings in white were black…

I read a most fascinating article in The Hindu's Sunday Magazine section on the dominance of West Indies in cricket from the year 1948 to the 1980s. Do check it out here.

Its titled Calypso Magic, written by Mukul Kesavan. Its so motivating for any team to read such a wonderful peice of informative journalism. If the current West Indies team just happens to grab the fictitious(unfortunately so!) Central American Issue of The Hindu, the Indian team are going to have a pretty scary time there. They had bowlers in the 60s that could make the media-pet Dhoni look like a fool. And batsmen to decimate any fast bowling attack. So as always, India fans can sit and pray. Heh!

Another weird haircut

And the barbers are as helpless as I. Poor chaps, you gotta hand it to them. He asked me so many questions and explained some of his own ideas, but at the end of the day, I just had to make him just do a uniform and even crop. Its not my problem, I don't have a hair-style per say. Its just growing like the grass in the lawns… straight up, no bending.

This is just a regular post just to let you know that I am still keeping this alive. Incase you haven't yet read the quotes from Robert Pirsig's books and interviews, please do so…atleast as a favor. Its fabulous and it pains me to learn that when a brilliant fella like himself influenced so many lives, the American political administration is full of idiots. And why is Condoleeza Rice in Time magazine's list of 100 important people? She should be the first one to be slaughtered with the millions of chickens followed by the administration and the great fool George Bush.

This Man…

…was thought to be insane. He was in a mental institution and was given shock treatment. He battled it all to write a book that was, is, and will always be so profound, and deeply moving yet disturbing that they all salute to him today.

Wikipedia has a compilation of some of his most fascinating thoughts. Read these. Robert M. Pirsig remains my sole inspiration as far as analyzing, thinking, and living is concerned. I do of course turn to Ian Anderson to seek attitude and musical inspiration. But this man Pirsig is in a world of his own.
